This is for everyone that uses twitter

Friday, October 31st, 2008

In case you’re like me, then you know the problem of forgetting to update Twitter. But with this awesome addon for firefox, which I found today by accident, it’s super easy and fast. Just install it and you can post new tweets by simply writing them into the URL-window. Easy isn’t it?

It got a bit quite over the last few weeks in this log. There are many reasons for that one is that I switched to Ubuntu, and haven’t found a possibility to sync my cell-phone, on which I write a big part. There’s suppose to be a program, but this is just giving me head-aces, because it’ doesn’t let me fix the USB driver – or something similar. The internet was to slow till now to download a virtual-machine-software, but I guess with that I can use Windows to finally sync again – what a bother!

Did something else happen in my life so far? No, not really, but it is one month since I was at the migration, and therefore really looking forward to hear what they have to say and if my migration was successful.

My Spanish is slowly improving. Yes, till now I have never mentioned: that I have huge problems with learning the language. The big problem is that many, if not everybody wants to talk in English to me. My host-family doesn’t make any excuses either. English, English everywhere I look. D’oh, even the TV keeps on showing shows in English. What a Devilish circle.

I’ve not really encountered anything more. Except maybe, doing homework and enjoying the sun. Yep, we still have super, duper weather here in Ciudad Obregon. However, I managed it never to go to university in shorts. Yay, me!But it’s only fair to mention, that we had a couple of days on which I put on a sweater, at least till I arrived at school.

I would like to close this post with a simple, but important question. Why does Estefania never write anything in this Blog?

Best regards

Festival in Cocorit

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

It’s time again for the Fall festival in Cocorit. The festival is going over 4 days, well acutally right now there are only 2 more days left, counting this one. Here’s the link for anyone that is interested:

http://www.cocoritsonora.com/newsdoc/programa.jpg

I don’t know why they made the program as a JPG and not a PDF, because it makes it almost impossible to watch properly, but who am I to say anything bad..

For all the people that are interested: Cocorit is about 10 minutes away, by car, from Ciudad Obregon, depending how fast you drive. And it’s one of the 7 Yaqui villages in all Mexico.

Thomas & Estefania

Edit:

Here are two pictures of the festival, later on i’ll upload a video, but for that i need to find a converter first. So stay tuned… The one picture shows the church in Cocorit, and the other one shows a band playing. It’s actually a band from ITSON, the largest university in Cd. Obregon. They played mexican, cuban music – ohh and oldies…

Warning: Do not put eggs in microwave!

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Some days ago, I felt like, I wanted to eat a hard boiled egg, but was to lazy to wait long. So, I put it in the microwave. This went good almost good.At 4 minutes I decided to take a peak at the egg, and it looked tasty. But still wasn’t 100% hard boiled – or micowaved.

However I decided to let it keep going…adding one minute more on the timer. At exactly 4:58 it made a load BANG and the door of the microwave ripped open and egg flew through the room.

Cleaning up the mess was not just annoying, but also took forever!

Wahh, wahh, there is a monster under my bed.

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

I’m really not sure how to start this shout for help! But the feeling, in me, grows that thinks that there is a monster under my bed.  You might question yourself why does he say something absurd like that? Yes, there is proof, because over the last few weeks I’ve been noticing that my socks got less and less each day of the week, and I don’t mean the socks which I made dirty on daily basis.

Let me say it straight: I think some monster/ human like creature lives under my bed. And it feeds on socks. Dirty socks, clean socks it doesn’t matter as long as it can get socks it’s happy.  Since I’m not stupid I’ve thought the possibilities which I have through. First stay up the entire night, hope to encounter the monster and then fight it – fight it to the death.  The second option I saw was just to live with this creature and buy new socks every few month.

Everybody that knows me knows, of course, which option I chose. Yes the first. I want to kill that little fucker. But as it had to happen, I fell asleep every night and never got a good glimpse at him and neither was able to attack him with butter knife!

So, after a week of restless trying I finally changed my mind and just tried to buy some new socks. Right after university I ran to the bus, entered it and left it in the center again to buy some socks in Coppel.

While buying the socks, I always had the monster in my head. That’s why I didn’t chose the package with 2 socks, not with 4 socks, but chose a package with 6 (six) socks. In the size: “unisize”, for the cheap prize of just 49$ Pesos. Hey, having that monster under my bed is cheaper than having a cat…  Socks bought, let’s get home.

This will be shocking news for you all: When I tried the socks on some time later. They didn’t fit. Stupid Coppel probably wanted to say ‘minisize’. So, now I have socks that don’t fit me correctly and I have a feeling, that the monster won’t eat them either.</em>

Just a few words to Coppel: I’ve been in many, each time I’m in one I have the feeling that there are more employees then costumers – weird. Once in Nayarit the employees were so bored that they had to take cocaine while working to be not 100% alone, but to have some company – even if just in imagination.

I guess, I have to get back to option 1.stalk the monster and hunt it down. Wish me luck. Updates on this news will be posted. Just like photos once I have a real one.

Best wishesThomas

No cyclone here…

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

Just wanted to let you know that there was no storm, rain what so ever in the part of Obregon where I live in. Luckily the sky decided to spoil us with sun shine instead!

But as far as i know the storm hitted Navojoa and Guaymas pretty hard.
